The crumble is a pie made with fruits topped with a “crumbly” mixture. It is usually served as a hot dessert accompanied by ice cream or cream.

The apple is known to be a healthy fruit. As the saying goes “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.

Apples provide a high percentage of vitamin C, are rich in antioxidants, help lower blood sugar levels and regulate bowel activity. They also serve to prevent cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, as well as cancer

  • It is possible to prepare a gluten-free version of the apple crumble by using gluten-free flour mixture or almond flour.
  • Different versions can be created by combining different types of spices. In this case I use cinnamon and ginger, which could be replaced by vanilla extract or clove.
  • Berries, such as blueberries or cranberries, can be used instead of apples.

  • 4 apples
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 2/3 cups of cane sugar

3. In another bowl, mix the rest of the sugar with the oats, flour, butter, cinnamon, ginger and salt and rub together with your fingertips until crumbs are formed.
4. In an oven tray covered with parchment paper, place the macerated apples and sprinkle over the crumble topping.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 200° C for 25/30 minutes until golden.
6. To serve, let it cool down a bit and pour some vegan cream on top.
