SEITAN STEAKS WITH SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
THE BEST SAUCE EVER
I absolutely love sweet and sour sauce. Let’s get started with this delicious recipe!
INGREDIENTS
-
2 seitan bistecs
-
1 red onion
-
3 tbsp of cane sugar (and a bit more for the onion)
-
3 tbsp of soy sauce
-
A small piece of grated ginger
-
1 tsp of granulated garlic
-
1 tbsp of agave/date syrup
-
2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
-
3 tbsp of ketchup or tomato paste
-
2 tbsp of cornstarch
INSTRUCTIONS
-
For the sauce: mix the sugar, vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, agave, apple cider vinegar and ketchup in a saucepan. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with a bit of water using a fork and reserve.
-
Stir the sauce, add the ginger and garlic, and mix until it starts boiling – then add the bowl mix and stir until thickened, reducing the heat so it doesn’t get burned!
-
Cook the diced onion with a bit of sugar on a saucepan on low heat, until well cooked. Then cook the seitan on both sides, and add the sauce for the last minute.
-
Serve with a side salad and mashed sweet potatoes.
